Lab Test Confirm: Child gets measles from vaccine!

The measles hype over the past month or so has just been over the moon. Unbelievable. Of course the medical mafia has had their minions out in full force to hype up the fear. One story that caught my eye was a case of measles in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada. A child who had received one dose of  the vaccine but came down with measles. Medical mafia media was spinning the news along the lines of ‘caught the measles because he had not received 2nd dose”
I was participatory on a medical mafia media site and pointed out the very likely, very real possibility that this child got measles from the vaccine.
And man oh man, did I hit that nail squarely on the head!

Background: February 23/15 Case of Measles reported in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada
The media started hyping the fear right out of the gates
‘Officials with the Algoma Public Health Unit say people who went to the emergency room in Elliot Lake earlier this month may have been exposed to the measles.

A child in that community has tested positive and was taken to the emergency room on more than one occasion.”
Present day:
Pay particular attention to the way this incident is being spun

“It said test results confirm that the measles virus isolated from the child are from the vaccine strain of the virus.

It adds the child had been immunized against measles, but was not contagious to others”
But hip hip hurray there is no evidence of wild measles circulating
On Friday, Feb 27, the health unit received the test results to confirm “there is no evidence of wild-type measles virus circulating in Elliot Lake.”
But there is evidence of the vaccine strain of measles circulating!

Recapping! The sick child tested positive for the vaccine strain of the virus. The child exhibits measles symptoms. And here is why I am suggesting this child contracted vaccine strain measles most likely  from another recent vaccine recipient
“The (symptomatic)  child was immunized in the fall, making the chances very low that test would show the vaccine virus still present.”
But, the child did test positive for the vaccine strain though that should not have happened.
And the child exhibited symptoms of measles !

The infected child did attend daycare "and also attends a local daycare". So it is quite probable this sick child was exposed to the vaccine version of this virus at the daycare. Which implies that the vaccine version of the measles virus is circulating and making others sick-

We have witnessed this exact scenario, vaccine version of measles virus circulating, in the case involving Angry mom &her manipulative screed.- The only person who could have exposed the child she used as a prop in her rant, was a fully vaccinated male, who most probably, most sensibly got measles from the vaccine!

Two posts covering that topic
  • Angry Mom from GTA" get's it wrong. Really wrong! ID the logical fallacies

York Region confirms one adult has tested positive for measles- ONE vaccinated individual.

  • Jennifer Hibben-White "Angry Mom"- Conflict of Interests & Promoting a For Profit Agenda
Another of several issues with her "angry mom" post was the FACT that the lone individual, the person cited by her, as the one who exposed her child, was FULLY VACCINATED!  How could she rail against those she calls "anti-vaxxers" in that circumstance?
A vaccinated individual can excrete the measles virus up to 28 days after receiving the vaccine. The medical mafia and their assorted partners in crime do not want the general population to be aware of this fact- Nonetheless that is the fact in the matter

      http://www.merck.ca/assets/en/pdf/products/MMR_II-PM_E.pdf

    Pg.6/29:

"Excretion of small amounts of the live attenuated rubella virus from the nose or throat has occurred in the majority of susceptible individiuals 7 to 28 days after vaccination"

The Murder of Boris Nemtsov. A 'Spring' in the Air? Cui Bono?- UPDATED!

Cui Bono? Who benefits from this killing?- Hat tip to my hubby, all my personal biases aside, I think he is correct.- Updated list of likely reasons..

Likely reasons for the killing at this time

*This killing took place to create the conditions needed to promote the dissent necessary, for the usual  suspects -NATO nations and their plot to create yet another destabilization project

*This killing took place to sow the seeds of a western backed Russian spring! Cue the protests. Cue the ‘human rights’ NGO’s making the western media rounds.Hell, even cue the pussy riot skanks!

*A spring or colour revolution always needs a ‘mascot’ and this looks to me like mascot creation! We should be seeing signs printed with the face of this man on them very soon, being carried, of course by western bought & paid for protestors! The signs will include some English wording enabling the western media to promote the agenda and draw in the western media audience.

*This man was always a tool of bankers &war mongers. His death, at this time, benefits Western or Atlantacists interests.

*Boris Nemstov was to old to be the front person for a colour/spring revolution. This type of revolution is ALWAYS presented as beginning with disenfranchised youth- Alexei Navalny is clearly better suited to this role

"Prior to Alexey Navalny's emergence, he was one of the West's favourite personalities in the Russian political life, not only while in opposition but also in power"
WSJ-The Murder of Boris Nemtsov- Another Putin opponent is killed by unknown assailants.

I'm italicizing and highlighting the manipulative language and other interesting bits
In the gangster state that is Vladimir Putin ’s Russia, we may never learn who shot dead Boris Nemtsov in Moscow late Friday night, much less why. The longtime opposition leader had once been Russia’s deputy prime minister under Boris Yeltsin, and he might have steered Russia toward a decent future had he been given a chance. Instead, he was fated to become a courageous voice for democracy and human rights (MASCOT!) who risked his life to alert an indifferent West to the dangers of doing business with the man in the Kremlin.
A file picture dated 08 April 2012 shows Leader of People's Freedom party Boris Nemtsov (C) taking part in a protest against president-elect Vladimir Putinon at the Red square in Moscow, Moscow.
The "People's Freedom Party'? As if ? That should appeal to the gullible western audience! Freedom always means fascism
"Some of those warnings appeared in these pages. In March 2012, he and fellow opposition leader Garry Kasparov warned against President Obama’s “reset” with Russia, urging that the Administration replace the Cold War-era Jackson-Vanik amendment with the Magnitsky Act, which imposes sanctions on Russian officials guilty of human-rights violations.
Nemtsov was also not afraid of criticizing Mr. Putin by name, noting in that same op-ed that he “is not the legitimate leader of Russia” given the ballot stuffing that went into his 2012 election. For his honesty he was repeatedly arrested and jailed by the Russian government. He was also the rare Russian willing to speak up for Ukraine’s democracy movement. “By supporting Ukraine,” he said in December 2013, “we also support ourselves.”
How often have we all read this same type of language being used, words that bring new life to old memes, promoted by the war mongering media- you can interchange Putin with any western targeted leader. It is exactly the same Modus Operandi
With his murder, Nemtsov’s name now joins that of other opponents of Mr. Putin who have met violent deaths or otherwise been brutalized by his regime: journalist Anna Politkovskaya, human-rights researcher Natalya Estemirova, opposition leader Alexei Navalny. One day their names will be celebrated in Russia, long after Mr. Putin is gone."
Flashback to 1997-
This article was originally published in March of 1997. Mr. Nemtsov was shot dead in Moscow on Friday.
In the most significant shuffle in years, President Boris Yeltsin has recruited one of Russia's top young reformers for his revamped cabinet, signalling a greater pro-Western and pro-market direction for the Russian government.

Boris Nemstov and the Western stooge drunkard Yeltsin
Boris Nemtsov, 37, the governor of Nizhny Novgorod region east of Moscow, who became the darling of Western bankers for his aggressive privatization program, was appointed yesterday to Mr. Yeltsin's cabinet as a first deputy prime minister.
The "Darling of Western Bankers"
Mr. Nemtsov and another reformer, Anatoly Chubais, 41, will be the highest-ranking lieutenants to Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin in the overhauled cabinet. They will have a clear mandate to push ahead with the much-promised market reforms that have bogged down in a swamp of bureaucratic resistance and corruption in recent years.
Mr. Nemtsov has been assigned the daunting task of restructuring Russia's powerful monopolies and reforming the housing and social sectors to make them targeted to the neediest people.
Restructuring powerful monopolies? To the benefit of certain ( Jewish) Oligarchs and their banker backers - Flashback to December 2010: Mikhail Khodorkovsky & Platon Lebedev found guilty of embezzlement
"In 2003, when Khodorkovsky was arrested, he signed over all his shares in Yukos, to one Jacob Rothschild, of the Rothschild banker and Oil family.
If all the top Yukos managers were unable to carry out the role, Lord Rothschild would take over, the company official told Kommersant on condition of anonymity"
But  of course.... "Boris Nemtsov, 52, is one of Russia's veteran liberal politicians. He was born in Sochi on the Black Sea, to Jewish parents, and studied radiophysics in the industrial city of Nizhny Novgorod" Explains the 'darling of western bankers' description-
In 2004 he supported Ukraine's Orange Revolution and became an economic adviser for Viktor Yushchenko,.....
This puts Boris Nemstov firmly in bed with Boris Berezovsky

The boyish-looking English-speaking governor, who impressed Western financiers by pioneering the privatization of farmland and shops in his region, told reporters that Mr. Yeltsin has promised him "complete carte blanche" to push ahead with reforms.
That was confirmed by Mr. Yeltsin himself. "Two young men -- you and Anatoly Chubais -- create a fresh young team in the government, from scratch," the President told Mr. Nemtsov in a meeting shown on Russian television yesterday. "No one [else] has been appointed yet. All candidates to the government will be agreed with the two first deputy premiers. I will not accept anything without you."
Mr Nemstov & Chubais were clearly running the show and Yeltsin absolutely knew that! Hence the no one appointed without the approval of Nemstov and Chubais and no decisions with out their approval, either!
Later in the day, Mr. Yeltsin unveiled a slimmer new cabinet, with several other reformers promoted and old-guard bureaucrats demoted. A close ally of Mr. Chubais, the privatization chief Alfred Kokh, was named one of the six deputy prime ministers.
At least five of the eight highest-ranking members of the new cabinet are reformers. Only one, interior minister Anatoly Kulikov, is considered a conservative.
Mr. Nemtsov promised the new cabinet would introduce sweeping reforms. "Dramatic changes are needed," he told reporters yesterday.
Indeed, the Yeltsin government could be "doomed" if it fails to produce significant improvements in the next few months, Mr. Nemtsov warned.
The darling of Western bankers warns that the Yeltsin government is "doomed" if it failed to produce significant improvements...- Who was in charge?
He endorsed the Kremlin's decision to streamline the government and reduce the number of ministries. The ministry of industry, in particular, should be eliminated because it "damages the economy" by lobbying for the interests of "certain financial and industrial groups," he said.
The new cabinet, unlike previous ones, is expected to mesh together in a clearly reformist direction. Mr. Chubais and Mr. Nemtsov have worked closely together in the past, and their joint ascendancy in the new cabinet should reduce the costly internal feuding that has weakened the government.
In a further strengthening of the young reformers, Mr. Chubais has been given the job of finance minister, in addition to his duties as the supervisor of economic reform.
Another new deputy premier is Oleg Sysuyev, the reformist mayor of the city of Samara. The Kremlin's decision to recruit Mr. Nemtsov and Mr. Sysuyev for the new cabinet is a signal of the growing power of the Russian regions, which have successfully pushed for the devolution of Moscow's authority in recent years.
Mr. Yeltsin praised the regional roots of his newest lieutenant yesterday. "You are not from Moscow, not from a soiled pack of cards," he told Mr. Nemtsov.
As a condition of accepting the cabinet job, Mr. Nemtsov obtained a guarantee that he can remain as the governor of Nizhny Novgorod region for another two years. He will commute between Moscow and his home region, splitting his time between the two jobs.
Mr. Nemtsov has built his career on his sense of pragmatism and populism. Despite the painful cost of market reforms, he has maintained a high ranking in the opinion polls in his home region. Yesterday, he demonstrated his well-tuned political antennae by making a populist pledge to get rid of the cabinet's foreign limousines.
"It is high time to stop riding in Mercedes and Rolls Royces," he told Russian television. "All officials should switch to home-produced cars. This will be one of our first decisions."
Perhaps not by coincidence, a factory in Mr. Nemtsov's home region is a leading producer of Russian limousines, and it would probably benefit from any decision to switch to domestic cars.
Mr. Nemtsov portrayed the planned reforms as an essential step to "restore order" in Russia. He vowed to remain honest, despite the pressures of Moscow politics. "I will not tell lies, I will not take bribes, and I will not steal," he said.
Three years ago, Mr. Yeltsin predicted Mr. Nemtsov would become the Russian president some day. The Russian media have described him as a "born politician." But his new cabinet post could be "suicidal" for his career, Mr. Nemtsov said yesterday. "I've written off my political future," he said.
Yeltsin- the drunken western puppet, didn't choose the man that man he pronounced would be the Russian President- Clearly Nemstov was foisted on Yeltsin!
The crucial question for the new cabinet is whether it can resist the pressure of the industrial lobbies. The previous finance minister, Alexander Livshits, was often defeated by those lobbies when he tried to reduce subsidies and tax exemptions. "He didn't have enough power to oppose sectoral interests," said Andrei Kortunov, a political analyst in Moscow. "He was an outsider and he lacked the stature and the financial connections."
Mr. Nemtsov, for his part, has been overrated by his Western fans, but he could still produce some improvement in the government, Mr. Kortunov said. "I'm cautiously optimistic. There are new people, fresh blood, and they could give another push to reform. It's substantial -- it's more important than other changes in previous years."
The cabinet shuffle is the latest sign of Mr. Yeltsin's new energy and vigour. In another token of his feisty mood yesterday, he lashed out at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, accusing it of trying to establish a "cordon" around Russia's borders.
"I'm not worried that NATO will attack, Russia would simply hit back," he said yesterday, just three days before a summit meeting with U.S. President Bill Clinton in Helsinki. "What I am afraid of is that blockade, a blockade of Russia by the West, which we cannot allow."
Mr. Yeltsin also complained NATO is preparing for military exercises in the Black Sea, near Crimea, a region which was traditionally within Moscow's sphere of influence.
But on a conciliatory note, Mr. Yeltsin suggested Russia could reduce its nuclear arsenal in a new START-3 disarmament treaty, as long as the United States makes the same cuts.
The media is pushing this story as if it was Putin himself, that pulled the trigger. But the fact is, from all my reading, there is zero proof of Putin being connected, having knowledge of or benefiting from the death of this man.

Nemstov shot on bridge
There is no doubt that this crime was carefully planned. The location and timing of the killing indicated that as well. The investigation found out that Boris Nemtsov was going with his female friend to his apartment, which is located close to the murder scene. The organizers and the executers apparently knew his route,” Vladimir Markin, spokesman for the Investigative Committee, told journalists.
Be Aware! - The media is attempting to link this to alleged threats from Islamists. Relating to the Charlie Hebdo incident-
"Nemtsov had received threats in connection with his position on the Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris last month"

RT is reporting
'Later in the day, the car allegedly used in the attack was discovered not far from the scene of the crime. Russian media reported that it had Ingushetian license plates"

Ingushetia-  This should tie into the radical Islam theme quite well

A New Israeli Policy on Syria?

With much thanks to Peter @ Europe's Crowned Bloodsuckers for bringing this to my attention
Itamar Rabinovich | February 13, 2015 at Brookings

There is nothing new in this ‘new policy on Syria’- It in fact reads exactly like the actions Israel has undertaken in it’s fully participatory role in the destabilization of Syria
I mean from 2011 and most likely well before that- So. Yah. Read on!

“It is time for Israel to reconsider, in coordination with the United States, its policy toward the Syrian civil war.
For nearly four years, since March 2011, Israel has been sitting on the fence. (Nonsense)Israeli policymakers and analysts are divided into two schools with regard to Syria’s future. The first, known as “the devil we know” school, argues that with all his faults Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his regime are preferable to an Islamist or jihadist alternative, and to the anarchy that is likely to ensue should the regime collapse. The other school argues that as the 2006 war in Lebanon amply demonstrated, the axis of Iran, Assad’s Syria, and Hezbollah presents a far more serious threat to Israel.

Israel’s passive stance on Syria (?????)
This debate has not been decided and the absence of a clear cut choice has contributed to the largely passive stance (Nonsense!) taken by Israel. This trend has been reinforced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s caution and preference for the status quo, as well as by the conviction that Israel’s ability to help shape the future of Syrian politics is hampered by the opposition’s reluctance to be seen as Israel’s allies or proxies. The regime’s narrative has been from the outset that this is not an authentic civil war, but rather a conspiracy hatched from the outside, by Syria’s enemies.

In fact, Israel has not been entirely passive. It acted several times to interdict arms transfers to Hezbollah, has responded to minor provocations along the ceasefire line in the Golan, and has tacitly offered humanitarian aid. But of Syria’s five neighbors, Israel, Syria’s enemy and intermittent negotiating partner, has been the least involved in and least affected by the devastating civil war.

Really? Israel the least involved. Supporting Al Nusra, in every manner, bombing Syria on multiple occasions to assist their jihadis. Doing all they can to support the campaign that benefits Israel, greatly! Kind of hard to buy into that least involved crap

This may be changing now as the result of three major developments:
The regime’s success, with massive help from Iran and its Lebanese’s proxy, with Hezbollah, to consolidate its hold on the 40 percent or so of Syria’s territory that it controls.
The weakening of the moderate, secular, or mildly Islamist opposition as both a military and a political actor.
The apparent decision by Iran and the Hezbollah to intensify its presence and activity in the Syrian Golan and to extend Hezbollah’s confrontation with Israel from the Lebanese-Israeli border to the Golan Heights.
This last development represents a curious reversal of roles. In the 1990s, Syria negotiated peace with Israel and operated against it in South Lebanon and through Lebanon, thus preserving a quiet front in the Golan. Hezbollah is now trying to keep its own border with Israel relatively quiet while preparing and testing the ground for opening a new front with Israel in the Golan.
Recent tensions between Israel and Hezbollah

This development came to a head last month. On January 18, Israel (without taking responsibility) destroyed two vehicles in the Golan killing an Iranian general and the son of Imad Moughniya, (pretty aggressive stuff!) Hezbollah’s chief of operations, who was killed in Damascus in a car bomb in 2008. Hezbollah retaliated by attacking an Israeli convoy at the foothills of Mount Hermon with rockets, killing two Israeli soldiers and wounding several others. In the aftermath of these events, both sides signaled to one another that they were not interested in an escalation and quiet was restored. On January 28, Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, delivered one of his fiery speeches. While saying that he was not interested in a war with Israel, he asserted that he was not afraid of one, that he did not recognize Israel’s “rules of engagement,” and that

The martyrs who fell in Qunaitra reflected a fusion of Lebanese-Iranian blood on Syrian territory, and also reflected the unity of the cause and the unity of the fate and the battle of these countries [against Israel]. When blood unites Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iran, then we will enter an era of victory.
    -Daily Star, January 31, 2015

When Nasrallah repudiates “the rules of engagement,” he is in fact saying that the deterrence achieved by Israel after the 2006 war in Lebanon no longer exists. Indeed, the Israeli defense establishment has sensed for some time now that Hezbollah conducts itself more aggressively and is preparing an infrastructure in the Syrian Golan for attacks against Israel. The Israeli operation was intended to signal to Hezbollah that this new line of conduct is not acceptable to Israel. But the clashes of late January ended in a draw. The draw is illustrative of the fact that Israel cannot achieve easy victories in a new war of attrition with Hezbollah. The danger of deterioration to war is another problem, and while such a war would probably end in an Israeli victory, its cost might very well be prohibitive.

In these circumstances, Israel’s best option is to signal to Hezbollah and to its Iranian patrons that its response to escalation along the Lebanese-Israeli border and the Golan will not be local, and that it may well target major units and installations of Assad’s regime, thus affecting the course of the Syrian civil war. This would not be a simple or easy decision. In the current conditions in Syria, it may play to the hands of the Islamic State and run against the grain of the Western offensive against it.(Utter nonsense from the Mr Rabinovich at Brookings- If Israel goes mad dog, it will bolster the US agenda and further the support of  the US/Israeli/ NATO jihadi crew branded ISIS) It could also trigger a significant Syrian response. This is a call the Israeli leadership will have to make if the trends observed last January continue, and that call would have to be made in close coordination with Washington in order to dovetail it with U.S. policy in Syria and Iraq. Caution and restraint may well prevail, but the foundation for the first major change in Israel’s policy towards the Syrian civil war has been laid.

I’m still not getting a first major change in policy- Just an acknowledgment of what has been ongoing Israeli policy for years now.

This post & the preceeding one go together like two war making birds of a feather

Because Israel and Jordan have acted together all along....

Don't Miss from the Chemical Manipulation of Humanity Series:

Jordan's Western Aligned Army Preps For Bigger Role Against ISIS

Read entirely at link- Read below the interesting bits

The country appears set to play a larger role in the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS, but the war looks to be long and difficult. Jordan, a country of just 6.6 million people, is already hosting more than 600,000 Syrian refugees. This has placed great strain on a country with limited resources and a fragile economy.

Jordan's military is a key player in all this, and NPR got to see it up close at the King Abdullah Special Operations Training Center, which is just outside Amman.

The Jordanian armed forces are closely aligned with the West, and the commander at the training center, Brig. Gen. Aref al-Zaben, is no exception. He has been trained at Fort Bragg, N.C., and also studied at the National Defense University in Washington

Jordan's Brig. Gen. Aref al-Zaben runs a special operations training center outside Amman. He believes it's inevitable that Jordan and other countries in the anti-ISIS coalition will send in special forces at some point to fight the extremist group.

Zaben, who has also served in Afghanistan and Yemen, stressed the ideological dimension of special operations: spreading the message of moderate Islam that Jordanians, and he would say most Muslims, practice.

Served in Afghanistan AND Yemen?

Syria
I asked about Jordan's role in Syria. Support for airstrikes is strong, though a ground invasion is not on the table. But what about special forces?

"The fight against ISIS will [include] special forces, special operations on the ground, in the future," he said. "That's going to be a coalition initiative."

In other words, Jordan will, as it has already, send special forces and/or all those NATO jihadi trainees they have been prepping into Syria. On the ground in the future
Asked if that meant that other regional countries, not only Jordan, were likely to send in special forces, he answered definitively.

"Must be," he says. "I think we all have to stand together.

Fluoride/Hypothyroidism/ IQ Lowering: Endocrine Disruptors & Chemical Manipulation of Humanity

Recall when people who questioned the legitimacy of  fluoridated water were viciously derided?
Oh yah, one of those people was me! Some years ago....
“The article notes that "thyroid dysfunction is a common endocrine disorder..."  The first time fluoride was labeled an endocrine disrupter was in the 2006 report of the National Resource Council of the National Academies. According to the National Institutes of Health, “Research shows that endocrine disruptors may pose the greatest risk during prenatal and early postnatal development when organ and neural systems are forming.” As far as we know, promoters pushing fluoridation have never referred to this ominous label.
“A major new fluoridation study was published today in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health--a British Medical Journal (BMJ) publication—and it’s already getting major media attention.  The study, entitled “Are fluoride levels in drinking water associated with hypothyroidism prevalence in England?  A large observational study of GP practice data and fluoride levels in drinking water,” is the first study to ever look at fluoridation and hypothyroidism in a large population (in this case, England).  It found a relatively strong and statistically significant effect, with General Practice (GP) areas being 62% more likely to have high rates of diagnosed hypothyroidism if their drinking water fluoride levels were above 0.7ppm compared to areas with fluoride levels below 0.3ppm.  This was after researchers had accounted for key confounders, which are other factors that influence hypothyroid rates.

In an additional comparison of two large metropolitan regions, one that is artificially fluoridated at a level of about 1.0 ppm (greater Birmingham area), and the other which is nearby and similar demographics but is not artificially fluoridated (greater Manchester), the study found a 94% greater probability that GPs in fluoridated Birmingham would have high hypothyroidism rates compared to Manchester.

For all of England, the prevalence rate of hypothyroidism was almost 10% greater in those GPs with higher fluoride levels compared to those with lowest levels.

The findings led to the researchers calling for a “rethink of public health policy to fluoridate the water supply,” adding “consideration needs to be given to reducing fluoride exposure, and public dental health interventions should stop [those] reliant on ingested fluoride and switch to topical fluoride-based and non-fluoride-based interventions.”

According to FAN’s Science Director, Chris Neurath, “Scientific and medical research stretching back to the 1920s has shown that fluoride can affect the thyroid.  The levels of fluoride exposure known to lower thyroid function overlap with the levels of exposure known to occur in some people drinking artificially fluoridated water.  Hypothyroidism is a very common disorder in the US.  It can have serious adverse health effects.  Reduced thyroid function in pregnant women is linked to reduced IQ in their children.  There is accumulating evidence that fluoride, at levels within the range fluoridated populations are exposed to, is associated with lowered IQFluoride's effect on thyroid function might be the mechanism by which it lowers IQ.”

Fluoride being just one endocrine disrupting chemical that we are exposed to, right?
So how might the altered thyroid function via endocrine disruption lower IQ?
This research likely sheds a light on how EDC's are lowering IQ via the thyroid
Project 1: Thyroid Hormone and Brain Development
Thyroid hormone is clearly essential for normal brain development. However, the mechanisms by which thyroid hormone exerts its effects, and the timing of thyroid hormone action, remain unclear. There is considerable evidence that maternal thyroid hormone can affect fetal brain development, but several questions remain. We have begun to look at this issue in a unique way - by cloning genes expressed in the fetal brain that are regulated by thyroid hormone before the onset of fetal thyroid function.
The lab is engaged in several projects to clarify the role of thyroid hormone in early brain development and to identify the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which thyroid hormone exerts its effects. These projects are broadly outlined below.

Developmental Events

Thyroid hormone is known to stimulate cell proliferation in some systems. In addition, thyroid hormone increases the proliferation of cells in the developing cerebellum. Therefore, we considered the possibility that maternal thyroid hormone is regulating proliferation in the fetal cortex. However, we could find no evidence for this. However, we did find that thyroid hormone regulates the expression of a gene (HES-1) thought to be involved in gliogenesis. We are now pursuing the concept that thyroid hormone shifts the balance of production of nerve cells and glia early in development.
Shifts the balance of nerve cells and glia development in early life
Did you listen to the interview from yesterday.  When Scott Buckley discusses...  " The brains immune system cells called “microglia” become overly excited by the ongoing response to the toxins being produced in the gut (or elsewhere in the body), and these microglia break down neurons."

This reaction is a  response to endocrine disrupting tendencies in Monsanto's monstrosities. Fluoride may trigger a very similar type of inflammation in the developing brain.

Fluoride: It isn't good for you, me or developing babies!
Fluoride,  Glysophate and other endocrine disrupting chemicals in the environment are devastating humanity.

Matthew Buckley: How Monsanto is Destroying the Brains & Health of Everyone- Chemical Manipulation of Humanity

An excellent interview- Mathew Buckley is discussing the toxic glysophate in Round Up and Round Up Ready crops and the horrific toll it takes on human health

For specific background to this interview you may want to refresh your memory with this CMH post

Glyphosate Herbicides & Transgenic Food Partners are both Toxic & Endocrine Disrupting in humans

In common terms that's Round up and Round up ready genetically modified frankenfoods!
Much thanks to Radio 3/14  and Red Ice Radio for this excellent audio
" We’ll discuss how all disease begins in the gut. The gut serves as approximately 70% of the immune system. It plays a significant role in not only our immune function, but also to our mental/emotional status according to a great deal of scientific research. Matthew explains how Monsanto’s product called Roundup contains a chemical called glyphosate, which is disrupting our microbiome. This disruption of our microbiome can result in an overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria, which triggers immune response, and this immune response would then trigger the brains immune cells, the microglia, to become overly active and degrade brain cells. He’ll describe this process, what amplifies it and what health consequences arise from it. Also, we address the issue of eating genetically modified organisms and the damage that arises from consuming them"

FDA: Hiding Fraud, Outright Fabrications & Scientific Misconduct from the Public

Onto the Slate article- It's huge, so only excerpts are contained below
Keep in mind the FDA is the Food & Drug Agency- It's not the Food and Drug Safety & Accountability Agency

Faked X-ray reports. Forged retinal scans. Phony lab tests. Secretly amputated limbs. All done in the name of science when researchers thought that nobody was watching.
That misconduct happens isn’t shocking. What is: When the FDA finds scientific fraud or misconduct, the agency doesn’t notify the public, the medical establishment, or even the scientific community that the results of a medical experiment are not to be trusted. On the contrary. For more than a decade, the FDA has shown a pattern of burying the details of misconduct. As a result, nobody ever finds out which data is bogus, which experiments are tainted, and which drugs might be on the market under false pretenses. The FDA has repeatedly hidden evidence of scientific fraud not just from the public, but also from its most trusted scientific advisers, even as they were deciding whether or not a new drug should be allowed on the market. Even a congressional panel investigating a case of fraud regarding a dangerous drug couldn't get forthright answers. For an agency devoted to protecting the public from bogus medical science, the FDA seems to be spending an awful lot of effort protecting the perpetrators of bogus science from the public.
We didn’t have to search very hard to find FDA burying evidence of research misconduct. Just look at any document related to an FDA inspection. As part of the new drug application process, or, more rarely, when the agency gets a tipoff of wrongdoing, the FDA sends a bunch of inspectors out to clinical sites to make sure that everything is done by the book. When there are problems, the FDA generates a lot of paperwork— (obfuscation) what are called form 483s, Establishment Inspection Reports, and in the worst cases, what are known as Warning Letters. If you manage to get your hands on these documents, you’ll see that, most of the time, key portions are redacted: information that describes what drug the researcher was studying, the name of the study, and precisely how the misconduct affected the quality of the data are all blacked out. These redactions make it all but impossible to figure out which study is tainted.(the FDA covers up for big pharma)

In only roughly 100 cases were we able to figure out which study, which drug, and which pharmaceutical company were involved. (We cracked a bunch of the redactions by cross-referencing the documents with clinical trials data, checking various other databases, and using carefully crafted Google searches.) For the other 500, the FDA was successfully able to shield the drugmaker (and the study sponsor) from public exposure.
It’s not just the public that’s in the dark. It’s researchers, too. And your doctor. As I describe in the current issue of JAMA Internal Medicine, my students and I were able to track down some 78 scientific publications resulting from a tainted study—a clinical trial in which FDA inspectors found significant problems with the conduct of the trial, up to and including fraud. In only three cases did we find any hint in the peer-reviewed literature of problems found by the FDA inspection. The other publications were not retracted, corrected, or highlighted in any way. In other words, the FDA knows about dozens of scientific papers floating about whose data are questionable—and has said nothing, leaving physicians and medical researchers completely unaware. The silence is unbroken even when the FDA itself seems shocked at the degree of fraud and misconduct in a clinical trial.

The Slate article cites one case as an example of this disgraceful malfeasance

Such was the case with the so-called RECORD 4 study. RECORD 4 was one of four large clinical trials that involved thousands of patients who were recruited at scores of clinical sites in more than a dozen countries around the world. The trial was used as evidence that a new anti-blood-clotting agent, rivaroxaban, was safe and effective. The FDA inspected or had access to external audits of 16 of the RECORD 4 sites. The trial was a fiasco. At Dr. Craig Loucks’ site in Colorado, the FDA found falsified data. At Dr. Ricardo Esquivel’s site in Mexico, there was “systematic discarding of medical records” that made it impossible to tell whether the study drug was given to the patients. At half of the sites that drew FDA scrutiny—eight out of 16—there was misconduct, fraud, fishy behavior, or other practices so objectionable that the data had to be thrown out. The problems were so bad and so widespread that, contrary to its usual practice, the FDA declared the entire study to be “unreliable.” Yet if you look in the medical journals, the results from RECORD 4 sit quietly in The Lancet without any hint in the literature about falsification, misconduct, or chaos behind the scenes. This means that physicians around the world are basing life-and-death medical decisions on a study that the FDA knows is simply not credible.
It’s not just one study, either. The FDA found major problems with sites involved in the other three clinical trials that were used to demonstrate rivaroxaban’s safety and effectiveness. RECORD 2, for example, was nearly as awful as RECORD 4: Four out of 10 sites that the FDA inspected showed evidence of misconduct, or other issues grave enough to render the site’s data worthless—including clear evidence of data falsification at one site. In aggregate, these problems raise serious doubts about the quality of all four key rivaroxaban studies—and, by extension, doubts about how seriously we should take the claim that rivaroxaban is safe and effective. The FDA is keeping mum, even as wrongful-death lawsuits begin to multiply.
The FDA’s failure to notify the public is not merely a sin of omission. In March 2009, the FDA convened a committee of outside scientific experts to mull the “robustness and meaningfulness” of the results from the four rivaroxaban trials, RECORDs 1, 2, 3, and 4. (The agency regularly calls in advisers to get advice, or, more cynically, to get cover, about a decision the agency has to make.) When the agency briefed the committee, it was (to put it mildly) coy about the problems it was finding. It said only that inspectors had found “significant issues” at two clinical sites involved in the RECORD 4 study—and that data from one of them was included in the analysis. Inspections were still ongoing, so it’s not easy to say precisely what the agency knew at that point, but it’s clear that the FDA wasn’t admitting to everything it knew. A bunch of inspections had been completed a month prior to the meeting, and we know for certain that the agency was fully aware of major issues beyond the two it revealed to the advisory committee. In a memo dated three days before the advisory committee meeting convened, the FDA detailed “falsification of data by a subinvestigator” at a RECORD 2 site. The advisory committee was not told.
By itself, this might seem like a miscommunication or an oversight, but the FDA has a history of not notifying the public about the misconduct it finds. About a decade ago, the agency got into trouble over a newly approved antibiotic, Ketek. Inspectors had found extensive problems (including fraud) affecting key clinical trials of the drug. Yet the agency did its best to hide the problems from even its most trusted advisers. As David Ross, the FDA official in charge of reviewing Ketek’s safety, put it, “In January 2003, over reviewers’ protests, FDA managers hid the evidence of fraud and misconduct from the advisory committee, which was fooled into voting for approval.” However, when the reports of misconduct at one clinical site began appearing in the press—along with stories of liver damage and blurred vision associated with the new drug—Congress stepped in, demanding information from the agency about the fraud.

This extensive article ends with these two paragraphs:

The sworn purpose of the FDA is to protect the public health, to assure us that all the drugs on the market are proven safe and effective by reputable scientific trials. Yet, over and over again, the agency has proven itself willing to keep scientists, doctors, and the public in the dark about incidents when those scientific trials turn out to be less than reputable. It does so not only by passive silence, but by active deception. And despite being called out numerous times over the years for its bad behavior, including from some very pissed-off members of Congress, the agency is stubbornly resistant to change. It’s a sign that the FDA is deeply captured, drawn firmly into the orbit of the pharmaceutical industry that it’s supposed to regulate. We can no longer hope that the situation will get better without firm action from the legislature.
The FDA wants you to take it on faith that its officials have the public’s best interest at heart. Justification through faith alone might be just fine as a religious doctrine, but it’s not a good foundation for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of our drugs. After all, the whole point of science-based medicine is to keep us from having to make a leap of faith every time we swallow a pill

When science becomes just another ism- you know we have troubles-
And we get scienceism in far too many instances this day and age
"Ism is a derived word used in philosophy, politics, religion or other areas pertaining to an ideology of some sort, sometimes with a derogatory sense"

Big Pharma- A racket. A Criminal Racket. Responsible for 200,000 annual deaths

Big Pharma- A racket. A Criminal Racket. Responsible for 200,000 annual deaths

Below is an article from Daily Beast- I did not use the Daily Beast headline "Big Pharma is America's New Mafia" because that title is absurd! That title does not accurately reflect the FACT that the pharmaceutical cartel is intimately tied with the petro- chemical industry and goes back many years. Big Pharma is not a new mafia, it is in fact, an old crime syndicate. We can go back to the Rockefeller's Medicine Men book to understand just how long this crime syndicate has been in place. I will relink that book at the end of this post! If  you have not read it before, read it now. You will understand how big medicine came to be- And you will understand it was via manipulation and indoctrination of the masses. The book shows how the meme of science was used to promote that which was called medicine for the sole reason of making profit!
First up the article from the Daily Beast!

Pharmaceutical companies have more power than ever, and the American people are paying the price—too often with our lives.
What’s not funny is that America is the most medicated nation on earth, with some 70 percent of Americans taking prescription drugs—yet we have worse health outcomes than other industrialized countries. Part of the problem may be the drugs themselves. As Slate’s devastating expose on the fraud in clinical drug trials shows us: We don’t know much about the drugs we prescribe.
I am going to give the Slate article it's own posting
But as physicians, we have very little good information to go on. Even our most prestigious journals publish research based on falsified studies, according to Charles Seife, a journalism professor whose class spent a semester trying to figure out why the data don’t get corrected once research fraud comes to light.  “As a result,” Seife writes, “nobody ever finds out which data is bogus, which experiments are tainted, and which drugs might be on the market under false pretenses.”
If no one knows which data is bogus, we obviously have a big problem in conventional medicine
Many of these physicians “leaders” then get to influence prescribing practices—since researchers and consultants are, well, experts. Consider the 2004 Cholesterol guidelines that resulted in an explosion in the use of statin drugs—eight out of nine of the doctors who wrote those guidelines were in receipt of money from statin manufacturers.- The Harvard psychiatrist credited with hyping the use of stimulant drugs for ADHD—that has resulted in nearly 15 percent of our youth being medicated—received $1.6 million from producers of stimulant drugs.- Prestigious medical journals—the ones that often define medical guidelines—allow physicians consulting for pharmaceutical companies or paid medical writers to extol the virtues of the drugs they are selling.
Considering the above information could any rational person assume that any prescription drug will live up to it's claims? You have bogus data. Doctors being paid to promote drugs. And alleged prestigious medical journals allowing pharmaceutical company doctors to extol the virtues of drugs backed up by money and cooked data? Do those facts induce confidence?
“They behave in many ways like the mafia does, they corrupt everyone they can corrupt, they have bought every type of person, even including ministers of health in some countries.”
I hate to ruin the fun, but practicing physicians are influenced far more by guidelines, esteemed academic physicians, and opinion pieces in prestigious journals than we are by a deli platter and a smiling drug rep. We look to the world of academic medicine because, well, where else can we turn? Pharmaceutical companies know this and have worked hard to sway the leadership. Now the question comes up if we can trust the data that the leadership relies on. One wonders how deep the deception goes. In fact, the heavy influence of pharmaceutical dollars inspired the former editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine, Dr. Marcia Angell, to conclude, “It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines.”
Read omitted paragraph at link
And by the way, that $1.4 billion is probably a fraction of what is spent on researchers. Obamacare allows a four-year delay in the reporting of research grants for reasons that really don’t make any sense. An explanation from Medscape does little to satisfy: “The thinking is that if there were public transparency, it might stifle companies from getting involved in very early research…. And that’s again to specifically protect that research space.”
A 4 year delay in reporting the where, what, who and why of research grants? A gift that is guaranteed to enable the practice of corruption, manipulation and criminality to continue! So much for Obama- care? Perhaps it should be renamed Obama care for medical cartel profits
Whether or not the research space needs protecting is a matter of debate. Certainly we have so much research that it’s impossible for a working physician to get through it—some 800,000 articles are published annually. In response, the Cochrane Collaboration was formed in the 1990s to perform systematic reviews of the literature. Dr. Peter Gotzsche, the Director of the Nordic Cochrane Center in Copenhagen, has seen enough over the last two decades to sum up his findings in a book whose title says it all: Deadly Medicines and Organised Crime: How Big Pharma has Corrupted Healthcare.
“Much of what the drug industry does fulfills the criteria for organized crime in US law,” Dr. Gotzsche said in a recent interview. “And they behave in many ways like the mafia does, they corrupt everyone they can corrupt, they have bought every type of person, even including ministers of health in some countries…The drug industry buys the professors first, then chiefs of departments, then other chief physicians and so on, they don’t buy junior doctors.”
That my dear readers was laid out well in Rockefellers medicine men- The Big Pharma racket is not a new racket
Gotzsche isn’t the only one accusing pharmaceutical companies of wrongdoing beyond the marketing malfeasance they’re famous for. In Australia, during the Vioxx class action suit brought against Merck, company emails were released revealing that Merck employees planned to “neutralize” and “discredit” doctors who criticized the drug. “We may need to seek them out and destroy them where they live,” a Merck employee wrote, according to The Australian. Apparently, uncooperative physicians were targeted to lose academic appointments and research funding for telling the truth about the negative side effects they observed.
This is troubling—but even more so in light of the fact that it’s now widely accepted that prescription drugs can be dangerous and over the years dozens have been recalled. “Our prescription drugs are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer. Our drugs kill around 200,000 people in America every year, and half of these people die while they do what their doctors told them—so they die because of the side-effects,” said Dr. Gotzsche in his recent interview. “The other half die because of errors—and it’s often the doctors that make the errors because any drug may come with 20, 30 or 40 warnings, contraindications, precautions…and then the patients die.”
This is a hard pill for any of us to swallow. We should be able to trust our doctors, who should in turn be able to trust “the science. As amusing as Oliver’s “epic takedown” of doctors was, the trouble isn’t physicians prescribing a new drug because a drug rep brings us a platter of tacos, the problem is whether the drugs we have to choose from are truly safe and effective in the first place.
Of course pharmaceutical companies are here to stay—and on the whole that’s a good thing. But to prevent a power dynamic that may deny us fully accurate drug data, physicians, and patients need more transparency—not just about the money, but about the drugs we are putting in our bodies.

Kurds/Turks evacuate Suleyman Shah tomb- Yet more KURD/ISIS symbiosis

Having done multiple postings citing what appears to be a fluidity between the Kurds and ISIS, I am going to point out that symbiosis yet again.
Where does Kurd begin and ISIS end? Where does ISIS began and Kurd end? It's all very blurry.
I will relink previous posts on this topic, but, first let's read this news article:
Kurds cooperate with Turkish army to move Suleyman Shah tomb

I will of course highlight the interesting bits!
The Turkish army evacuation of the Suleyman Shah tomb, and transfer of its contents to a different location in Kobani, was coordinated four days in advance with the Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG).

In an official statement, the YPG said the operation was carried out with their knowledge, and was requested by the Turkish government and the international coalition against the Islamic state.

“Evaluating the demand of the Turkish state and the request of coalition forces, our Command saw no harm in approving the operation in which [the] human dimension was [at] the forefront”, the statement said.
The YPG says the operation was planned after a four-day debate between Turkish officials and the Kurds.
The Turks crossed through Kurdish held territory- Why are media outlets and some bloggers claiming this is ISIS territory?

“In this context, armoured vehicles and a certain number of soldiers affiliated to the Turkish army crossed into Kobanê Canton through Mürşitpınar border crossing at 21.00 yesterday evening,” the YPG said.

“Advancing in company with vehicles of YPG forces, the Turkish military reached the Suleyman Shah tomb following a route which had been previously determined. Our forces have precisely fulfilled their duty after undertaking responsibility for the deployment and reinforcement of Turkish soldiers in the areas controlled by our forces”, YPG said.

After the operation, it was reported that the President of the local administration in Kobani, Anwar Muslim, traveled to Ankara to meet officials in Turkey.
The cooperation could be a breakthrough in relations between Turkey and the Kurds in both Syria and Turkey. Previously, the YPG accused Turkey of supporting the Islamic state, and opposing Kurdish autonomy in Syria.

However, the Turkish government has rejected reports of any coordination between Kurdish forces and Turkish army during the Suleyman Shah operation on Sunday.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said the government communicated with groups inside Syria, including the Free Syrian Army, in order to avoid civilian casualties during the operation but did not cite the YPG, which controls the area from which the Turkish army crossed over the border to evacuate troops protecting the tomb.
The YPG controls the area form which the Turkish army crossed- Not ISIS
“All parties were fully aware that any intervention or blockage of this operation would have received the harshest response,” Davutoğlu said.

There are reports that important declaration by the PKK will be made during the Kurdish New Year celebrations of Newroz, on 21st March, following negotiations with Turkish authorities

Here is my question? Why do the Sunni Muslim Kurds fly ISIS flags in territory they hold? Other then to keep a false story going?

Turkey to move forward with non-NATO integrated missile defense

Interesting: A deal with Russia and now a deal with China?
Turkey’s new defense missile system, for which Ankara is in talks on a $3.4 billion deal with a Chinese company, will not be integrated with one used by NATO, Defense Minister İsmet Yılmaz has said.

Ankara will use the long-range system without integrating it with NATO’s system, Yılmaz said in his elaboration on the issue, which came in response to a parliamentary question filed by an opposition deputy.

Turkey originally awarded the tender to China Precision Machinery Export-Import Corporation (CPMIEC) in 2013, prompting U.S. and NATO officials to say the deal could raise questions over security.

Turkey later said it was in talks with France on the issue. However, in his written response to the question filed in late December 2014 by main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) İzmir deputy Aykut Çıray, Yılmaz said no new bids had been received.

“The project will be financed through foreign financing.(Is China assisting with the financing?) Work on assessing the bids has been completed and no new official bid has been received,” the minister said, in his response released by Çıray’s office Feb. 19.

“The system in question will be integrated with the national system for Turkey’s defense and will be used without integrating it with NATO,” he added.

Eurosam, which is owned by Franco-Italian missile maker MBDA and France’s Thales, came second in the tender.

As early as September 2013, shortly after Yılmaz announced after a top defense industry meeting that the contract for the construction of the long-range air and anti-missile system had been awarded to CPMIEC, officials and industry sources told the Hürriyet Daily News that the Turkish government’s decision to select a Chinese contender for the construction of the country’s first long-range air defense system may force Turkey into ending up with a “standalone” system with little or no integration with NATO assets like radars.

About half of Turkey’s network-based air defense radars have been paid for by NATO and are part of the NATO Air Defense Ground Environment.

“Turkey can always decide to build a standalone system. But in that case, abstracting the air defense system from NATO assets would mean that Turkey will lose half of its radar capabilities,” one defense analyst said at the time.
Turkey would need interface data to make its own air defense architecture interoperable with NATO assets, primarily data on the Identify Friend and Foe system. This is top secret system and cannot be installed into any Chinese system.
Contradicting statements made earlier in the week?
Earlier this week, senior officials told the Daily News that Turkey would refrain from selecting a winner for its disputed contract before April 24, the centennial commemoration of the 1915 killings of Ottoman Armenians.

“We have agreed with the government leaders not to rush to a decision any time soon,” one defense procurement official said. “A decision before April 24 is out of the question.”

A senior diplomat confirmed that Ankara first wants to see the U.S. and French positions on the “genocide claims” before awarding a sizeable contract “to a bidder potentially from one of these countries.”

“How these countries observe the centennial of the events [of 1915-1920] will be important input for our final decision,” he said.

Jennifer Hibben-White "Angry Mom"- Conflict of Interests & Promoting a For Profit Agenda

With much thanks to anonymous commenter, who so very kindly left links to two videos clearly demonstrating the conflicts of interest so called "angry mom' clearly had when she posted her disgraceful rant against those she so derogatorily labelled as "anti-vaxxers"
I knew there was more to this then met the eye. The rant was very manipulative. Written by someone who KNOWS how to use media to push buttons in order to  elicit a specific response

"Angry mom" is Jennifer Hibben- White. She posted a long, ridicule filled, bordering on hateful rant targeting people who do not share her beliefs. Or the agenda of her family business. I am being kind in my description of her rant and this entire situation. Which would be better characterized in more frank terms but I will refrain from doing so

Relinking my post from last week on the many, many shortcomings of this profit promoting screed.

"Angry Mom from GTA" get's it wrong. Really wrong! ID the logical fallacies

In that post, a number of problems with her rant were identified.

One being the mass coverage. And the fact that this felt like just another PR promotion!
"In fact the wall to wall mass media coverage reminded me of other PR stunts we have witnessed through these many years. PR stunts generated via social media. Phony Kony. I am Ukraine. Just to name two off the top of my head..."
Once we view the video, above and understand the connections to the pharmaceutical industry & Jennifer's marketing business that enabled, wait, enabled is not quite right, that guaranteed the wall to wall mass coverage of her rather ignorant rant. The PR scam is even more obvious.

Another of several issues with her "angry mom" post was the FACT that the lone individual, the person cited by her, as the one who exposed her child, was FULLY VACCINATED!  How could she rail against those she calls "anti-vaxxers" in that circumstance? Yet, she could justify that level of venom against persons choosing their medical care because they cut into her ability to make money?
To extract profits.

At the end I included a poster for readers to identify the numerous logical fallacies so called Angry Mom used in her SCREED.

Right below!

If we don't, collectively, learn how it is we are manipulated, we collectively cannot stop being manipulated.
Angry Mom aka Jennifer Hibben-White used her child, like a pawn in a game, to influence the masses for the sake of  her profit.  This is how low, people of her ilk, will go to enrich themselves at the expense of other's rights and well being.

And, Finally!

Let's see if the main stream media issues a retraction or an acknowledgement of the conflicts of interest inherent in the motivation of Jennifer Hibben-White. It would of course aid in their credibility. But then the main stream media and credibility are two extremely divergent matters.

Great Lakes ice cover SURPASS 2014's almost-record year?

I have put in some updates, scroll down...

How cold is it in your neck of the woods? Here. It's been another long cold winter!
Record setting cold- Piles of snow.
Check out the Great Lakes region-

Satellite photo from Feb. 18, showing the extensive ice cover on the Great Lakes.
As of yesterday the Great Lakes were 85.4 percent ice covered!
By Wednesday, the Great Lakes were 85.4 percent ice-covered, just above the 85.2 percent on Feb. 18 last year, according to the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory. With below-average temperatures predicted for at least the next week, the lakes could approach last year’s levels of 92.5 percent ice cover, the second-highest level since records began in the early 1970s.
It’s far from the only factor in spring weather, but a heavy and late ice season can lead to a cooler spring—and even a cooler summer, forecasters say.
“By April or May, usually the ice is gone, usually probably anywhere from early to late April,” said George Leshkevitch, a scientist with the research laboratory. “Last year, we had ice throughout May, and even lingering into June. If that happens again, we’re likely to have a cool spring.
Ice forecasts aren’t issued for the Great Lakes as a whole, but Leshkevitch said that the longer the current cold snap persists, the more likely the lakes are to continue icing over. Although the extreme cold—setting at least one record low on Thursday—is expected to break Friday, temperatures are forecast to remain about 20 degrees below normal through at least Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Last year the Great Lakes froze up like this too!

Interesting too is that Lake Ontario is heavily ice covered

Frozen up: Lake Ontario saw near-record levels of ice form on Tuesday leaving just 20 per cent of open water
Ice is largely uncommon on Lake Ontario, which normally sees around 11 percent cover
Lake Ontario is very, very deep and holds onto it's heat- But, Lake Ontario had no heat to hold onto from 2014. That could have something to do with the fact that this area saw the coolest spring and summer in a very long time in 2014. So, there was no real opportunity for the lakes to get warm!

More on Lake Ontario- so readers can understand just why this much ice coverage is so unusual

The difference this year as compared to last year in ice coverage really lies in Lake Ontario. As one of the largest and deepest Great Lakes, the shear volume of water makes this lake very difficult to form major ice coverage.
Even with the record-breaking winter of 2014, it struggled to form ice coverage throughout the brutal winter. This winter is radically different with over 75 percent of the lake covered in ice!

Lake Ontario Ice Coverage February 18, 2015 -
Lake Ontario Ice Coverage February 18, 2015 -75.5%

Lake Ontario Ice Coverage February 18, 2014 -
Lake Ontario Ice Coverage February 18, 2014 -27.1%
And I can attest to the fact that Winter of 2014 was record breaking, bone chilling cold
Other then a slight reprieve in December- This winter has been in it for the long haul

This blast of chillin' air is not just hovering over Canada. Or the normally temperate fruit belt/wine country area of  the Great Lakes region. Oh no! This cold is chillin' all the way down to normally balmy Florida- Where Snowbirds most often flock...

Arctic outbreak shatters records in eastern U.S., coldest yet to come

Records are falling along with the temperature across the eastern U.S. on Thursday, as the coldest air of the season surges south. Friday morning’s cold promises to be even more icy, taking aim at the Eastern Seaboard from Boston to Miami.
When combined with winds, the cold outbreak will lead to dangerous wind chills on Thursday and Friday morning. Wind chill warnings and advisories stretch from the Upper Midwest to the Deep South on Thursday — even as far as Miami, where Friday morning lows around 40 degrees could break records for the date, and will surely be the coldest air that southern Florida has seen in five years.
 Brrrrrr.....................

We are going to get back too coldest February on record and Lake Ontario- the uniqueness of it's icy expanse-

Regarding Toronto which has the advantage of being a heat sink
"Toronto is right on track to experience the coldest February in recorded history"
And Lake Ontario, which is why I focused on this specific great lake originally in this post

"Another interesting point to address is Lake Ontario. Throughout recorded (and reliable) history, the lake has only completely frozen over once back in 1934. To put in perspective, last year the most coverage we saw was around 62%, while the Great Lakes as a whole reported 92% coverage.
As we saw above Lake Ontario is more then 75.5 percent ice covered
4,700 square miles of ice forms on Great Lakes IN ONE NIGHT
That night was the night of February 19th- where as I said, we broke a cold record in my southern Ontario city- It's February 20/2015 and the temperature, as I type, is minus 23 celsius or minus  10 Fahrenheit- I expect the  lake ice will grow again

Oh, and like last year Niagara Falls is just about frozen over
I can assure you this is an uncommon occurrence, at least in my lifetime. And here it is, frozen up for the second year in a row-  Perhaps I will go down and see this over the week end.
